Yet Lovely hosts a summer internship program that teaches on all aspects of interior design + owning a retail shoppe. This opportunity is great for anyone who is interested in learning more about interior design or starting a small business. 

 

The ideal intern is creative + has a similar aesthetic to the Yet Lovely brand + values. They are able to build and maintain good relationships with vendors + clients, work proficiently, independently + effectively while juggling several projects at once. This candidate has excellent interpersonal + communication skills including verbal, written and visual + works well on their own as well as takes instruction from designers. Organization comes easy to this person as well as the ability to meet deadlines.

This internship is 4 weeks long, running mid July through mid August. More info on the schedule + work location will be shared Spring of 2024.

 

The courses are as follows:

 

Courses:

• Interior Design 101: (Classroom) What skills are necessary to becoming an ID? Designer vs Decorator? What is my lane? Learn the different styles… (modern, contemporary, eclectic, vintage, boho, coastal, traditional, etc)

• Business 101: (Classroom) Social Media + Website (marketing); Affiliate Marketing (various revenue streams); What to charge; What services to offer; How communication is the KEY to success...

• Consultations: (Classroom + Field) Learn the process before, during + after a design consult.

• Design Client Process: (Classroom) Learn the process of booking the client + what takes place after. 

• Design Boards: (Classroom) Learn how to create 3D design boards.

• Finish Selection: (Field) Spend time learning what hardscape finishes work together (like tile, countertops, backsplash, etc).

• Space Planning: (Classroom + Field) Learn how to measure spaces/furniture for maximum usability + function.

• Sourcing: (Classroom + Field) Where to look for items? How/where to save + organize them? (Reward Style + Pinterest)

• Thrifting: (Field) Learn the best tips to thrifting/antiquing.

• Decorating + Styling: (Field) Hands-on training to style areas like bookshelves, coffee tables, buffet tables, bedding, etc
